There is no greater joy than sharing one’s knowledge and experience with those who can utilize them. This is the very reason for the existence of this online educational website on sonography. Sonography is a passion which I have indulged in, for the past 40 years and it continues to kindle the fire of intellect and curiosity in mind to explore more. Hence, here is a forum to share my understanding and to provide an opportunity to discuss various topics related to ultrasonography.
Sonography is a wonderful, economical and easily available imaging modality which can go to the bedside of the patient. It is becoming the most underutilized imaging modality in India for many reasons. The first and foremost is the PCPNDT ACT. But more important reason is lack of systematic education in post graduate programs. I was fortunate to grow with this modality. So I thought I will spread the use of this modality as a way of giving back to society. I had been a regular faculty in most of the national and regional conferences and CMEs on sonography for the past four decades. I was also the course director for the on-site training programs at SONOSCAN Institute of Medical Ultrasound which was popular for the active supervision and hands-on experience. Besides this, I had an interactive online program as sboopathy.com some years back which was well received and used by members. With improved communication by WhatsApp the interaction on this site stopped. I had been requested to contribute more by many delegates in conferences I addressed. But with my advancing age, I had to restrict my travel. So the best option is to have an online sharing of knowledge in the form of an online educational platform – www.sonoshare.in
This not for profit initiative is the effort of a single person for a long period of 40 years. It has involved so much of my time which belonged to my family – my beloved wife and children and also my own personal nonprofessional time. I hope you all appreciate this and defer from piracy in all forms. I welcome constructive criticism to improve. Maintenance of this program involves finances contributed solely by me, since I did not want to look partial to certain sponsors and to avoid conflict of interest. I hope to improve the quality of this program and expand to other contributors which will be done from the subscriptions as a form of crowd funding. I hope all of you will cooperate and also get benefitted.
Online virtual learning and sharing
There are great advantages of online learning as it can be accessed anytime of the day, anywhere and for any number of times. The 24×7 access and easy search option is a boon during practice. This will function as a Realtime coach helping you to improve your skills. Please listen to the renowned Indian American surgeon and author Dr.Atul Gwande talk about a coach in medical field.
It is well known that the captive attention of a listener during a talk can be for a maximum of 18 to 20 minutes, limiting the grasp and understanding. So he/she has to listen to the subject repeatedly which is not available after a CME while the online content can be accessed any number of times enabling a better grasp and understanding. Besides a CME involves your time away from practice, travel and a lot of money.
On completion of graduation, books are used only as reference tools but may not be readily available and search of a particular reference is difficult and sometime not possible at the specified time.
Online courses have done away with these disadvantages. Best way of learning and sharing are one to one physical exchange as it happens in a course leading to award of a degree or fellowship or certificate. The next best is the online virtual learning and sharing like www.sonoshare.in
